Ministry of Energy (Abolition) Amendment Act 2001

This Act is administered in the Ministry of Economic Development.

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

(1) This Act is the Ministry of Energy (Abolition) Amendment Act 2001.

(2) In this Act, the Ministry of Energy (Abolition) Act 1989 is called “the principal Act”.

This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

Section 14 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after paragraph (b), the following paragraph:
- “(ba) the dissemination of information to assist consumers to choose, and alternate, between competing electricity retailers (as defined in section 2(1) of the Electricity Act 1992); and”.
