1 Title
This order is the Public Service (Aroturuki Tamariki—Independent Children’s Monitor) Order 2023.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 1 May 2023.
3 Principal Act
This order amends the Public Service Act 2020.
4 Schedule 2 amended
In Schedule 2, Part 2, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 1 May 2023, inserts the name Aroturuki Tamariki—Independent Children’s Monitor into Part 2 of Schedule 2 of the Public Service Act 2020 (the principal Act) as a departmental agency hosted by the Education Review Office.
Aroturuki Tamariki—Independent Children’s Monitor is the name of the Independent Monitoring Agency of the Oranga Tamariki system for the purposes of the Oversight of Oranga Tamariki System Act 2022 (see sections 8(1) and 12(2) of that Act).
The effect of the tick in the third column of the new item in Part 2 of Schedule 2 of the principal Act is that the chief executive of Aroturuki Tamariki—Independent Children’s Monitor may operate outside the strategic and policy framework of the Education Review Office.

This is a consolidation of the Public Service (Aroturuki Tamariki—Independent Children’s Monitor) Order 2023 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
