An Act to amend the New Zealand Company’s Land Claimants Ordinance Session xi. No. 15.
Preamble.
Whereas an Ordinance was passed by the Legislative Council of New Zealand, in the Eleventh Session of the same Council intituled “An Ordinance to ascertain the Contracts and Engagements entered into by the New Zealand Company for the disposal of certain lands in the Islands of New Zealand and to provide for the completion of such Contracts and Engagements by the Colonial Government And whereas under the provisions of the said Act persons are entitled to claim to have Crown Grants of land in the Colony issued to them or in their favour in respect of Titles derived from dealings by purchasers from the said Company subsequent to the issue of the said Company’s Land Orders And whereas it is expedient in certain cases to limit the operation of the said Act
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:—
I Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The New Zealand Company’s Land Claimants Ordinance Amendment Act 1861.”
II Limitation of time for issue of Grant.
After the 31st day of December 1861 no person shall be entitled to claim to have a Crown Grant of Land issued to him or in his favour under the provisions of the said Ordinance whose Title shall be derived under or through a conveyance or transfer executed subsequently to the 31st day of December 1861 and no such Crown Grant shall be issued to or in favour of any such person accordingly.
