An Act to amend “The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868.”
Preamble.
WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the operation of “The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868”
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868 Amendment Act 1869.”
2 Governor may bring “The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868”
into operation in Provinces.
The Governor may from time to time by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette declare “The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868”
hereinafter called “the said Act”
to be in operation in any Province or in any District being part of a Province to be defined in such Proclamation and on a day to be fixed in such Proclamation the said Act shall come into operation in such Province or District.
3 Governor may delegate his powers.
It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council at the time of making any such Proclamation as last aforesaid or at any time thereafter to delegate all or any of the powers by the said Act vested in the Governor and exercisable by him within the Province or District in such Proclamation mentioned except the powers conferred by the second section of the said Act to the Superintendent of the Province in which the said Act shall be so brought into operation or to any other person or persons and such delegation from time to time to alter and revoke.
4 Provincial Gazette substituted for New Zealand Gazette in certain cases.
In any case in which this Act shall be brought into operation in any Province or District within a Province the term New Zealand Gazette in the fourth and ninth sections of the said Act shall so far as relates to such Province be taken to mean the Gazette of such Province.
