An Act to provide for the Alteration of the Purpose of certain Portions of Reserves within the Township of Geraldine, in the Province of Canterbury.
Preamble.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Public Reserves Act, 1862,”
it is provided that it shall not be lawful for the Superintendent and Provincial Council of any Province to pass any Act or Ordinance for the sale of any lands within or adjoining to any town which have been or may hereafter be reserved for public gardens or recreation grounds for the inhabitants of such town: And whereas certain reserves for public gardens and recreation grounds have been made in the Township of Geraldine: And whereas it is expedient that certain portions of those reserves should be sold for building sites, and that certain other portions of the said township should be reserved for recreation grounds:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act shall be “The Township of Geraldine Act, 1873.”
2 Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury may pass Ordinance altering reserve.
It shall be lawful for the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury, by Ordinance to be passed in that behalf, to enact that all or any of the portions of reserves described in the Schedule to this Act, being portions of reserves for public gardens and recreation grounds in the Township of Geraldine, in the said Province, shall be sold by auction as town lands or reserved for public purposes, and to provide that reserves for the purposes of public gardens and recreation grounds of equal extent to those so sold or reserved shall be made in the said township.

Part of Reserve No. 305 (in red) on the map of the Township of Geraldine, being four acres and fourteen perches, more or less, situate in the Town of Geraldine. Bounded—on the North-westward by Cox Street; on the Southward by High Street; on the Eastward by Talbot Street; and on the Westward by lines parallel to and two chains fifty links distant from the eastern boundary.
Part of Reserve No. 306 (in red) on the map of the Township of Geraldine, being four acres one rood and twenty-two perches, more or less, situate in the Town of Geraldine. Bounded—on the Northward by High Street; on the Eastward by Talbot Street; on the Southward by the southern boundary of the township; and on the Westward by lines parallel to and two chains fifty links distant from the eastern boundary.
