An Act to enable the Trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust to exchange certain Lands with the Crown, and to vest certain Lands in His Majesty the King.
Preamble.
WHEREAS the lands described in the First Schedule hereto are vested in the Crown for public buildings, and it is expedient that the said lands should be exchanged for the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto and now vested in the Trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust: And whereas it is further expedient that the lands described in the Third and Fourth Schedules hereto and vested in the said Trustees pursuant to the provisions of “The Masterton Trust Lands Act, 1889,”
should be conveyed or transferred to the Crown for the purposes hereinafter mentioned:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Masterton Trustees Empowering Act, 1902.”
2 Power to Trustees to exchange lands.
The Masterton Trust Lands Trustees, with the consent of the voters on the roll of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, may—
(1.)
Convey or transfer to the Crown the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto, in exchange for the land specified in the First Schedule;
(2.)
Convey or transfer to the Crown the lands described in the Third Schedule hereto, to be used as a site for a technical school; and also
(3.)
Convey or transfer to the Crown the lands described in the Fourth Schedule hereto, to be used as a site for a district high school.
3 Consent of voters necessary.
The consent of the voters to the aforesaid proposals shall be ascertained in accordance with the provisions of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876.”
SCHEDULES
FIRST SCHEDULE
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 25·4 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 2, Borough of Masterton. Bounded towards the south-east by Queen Street, 63·6 links; towards the south-west by Section No. 4, 250 links; towards the north-west by the other part of the said Section No. 2, 63·6 links; and towards the north-east by other part of the said Section No. 2, 250 links.
SECOND SCHEDULE
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 36·8 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 2, Borough of Masterton. Bounded towards the north-west by Chapel Street, 200 links; towards the north-east by Hall Street, 115 links; towards the south-east by the other part of the said Section No. 2, 200 links; and towards the south-west by Section No. 4, 115 links.
THIRD SCHEDULE
All, that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 9·1 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 71, Borough of Masterton. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 73, 153·4 links; towards the south-east by Dixon Street, 200 links; towards the south-west by Church Street, 153·4 links; and towards the north-west by the other part of the said Section No. 71, 200 links.
FOURTH SCHEDULE
All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 3 roods 25 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 46 and 48, Borough of Masterton. Bounded towards the north-west by Chapel Street, 385·4 links; towards the north-east by Section No. 44, 500 links; towards the south- east by Queen Street, 377 links; and towards the south-west by Russell Street, 500 links.
