An Act to amend “The Crown Grants Act, 1883.”
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Crown Grants Act Amendment Act, 1903.”
2 Power to compound custody fees extended.
(1.)
Section fifty-two of “The Crown Grants Act, 1883”
(authorising the compounding of the custody fees in respect of Crown grants on payment of an amount not exceeding ten pounds per centum of the original sum paid for the land described in the grant), is hereby amended by repealing all the words beginning “This provision”
to the end of the section.
(2.)
The power to deliver Crown grants on payment of a composition for the custody fees as prescribed by the said section is hereby revived: Provided that, where no sum was originally paid for the land described in any Crown grant, the custody fees in respect of the grant may be compounded for a sum not exceeding five shillings per acre in the case of rural lands, and, in the case of all other lands, for a sum not exceeding one-fifth of the value thereof at the time they were granted.
