An Act to amend the Waimakariri Harbour District and Empowering Act, 1916.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Waimakariri Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1920, and it shall form part of and be read together with the Waimakariri Harbour District and Empowering Act, 1916 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Deemed a special Act.
This Act shall be deemed a special Act within the meaning of the Harbours Act, 1908.
3 Section 6 of principal Act amended.
Section six of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words “thirty thousand pounds,”
and substituting the words “seventy-five thousand pounds.”
4 Repeal.
The Schedule to the principal Act, comprising the description of the Waimakariri Harbour District, also section four of the Waimakariri Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Act, 1917, are hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof the district constituted by section four of the principal Act shall comprise the several areas referred to or described in the Schedule hereto.
5 Appointment or election of members of Board
(1.)
The number of members of the said Board shall be twelve.
(2.)
The number of non-elective members who shall be appointed from time to time by the Governor-General shall be two.
(3.)
The remaining members of the said Board shall be elected as follow: One by the electors of the Borough of Kaiapoi, one by the electors of the Borough of Rangiora, and one by each of the following counties, namely: The Rangiora County, the Eyre County, the Oxford County, the Waipara County, the Amuri County, the Cheviot County, the Ashley County, and the Kowai County.
(4.)
Until such other members shall be appointed or elected the present members of the Board shall continue to hold office.
(5.)
The first election of members of the Board in accordance with subsection three hereof shall be held on such day or days as the Governor-General by Order in Council appoints, and by the same or any subsequent Order in Council the Governor-General may make such provisions as he deems necessary for the purpose of such election or elections.
(6.)
The entity of the Corporation of the said Board shall not be affected by such alterations as aforesaid.
(7.)
The reference to the Waimakariri Harbour Board in the First Schedule to the Harbours Act, 1910, is hereby repealed.

The Borough of Kaiapoi;
2.
The Borough of Rangiora;
3.
The Rangiora County;
4.
The Eyre County;
5.
The Oxford County;
6.
The Ashley County;
7.
The Kowai County (including therein the Town Board of Amberley);
8.
The Waipara County;
9.
The Amuri County;
10.
The Cheviot County;
11.
And that part of the Waimakariri River within the Waimairi County bounded towards the north and north-east by the centre of the Waimakariri River; towards the west by a line with the east boundary of the Borough of Kaiapoi from the centre of the said river to the right bank thereof; towards the south-west by the said right bank to a point in continuation of the north-east boundary of Rural Section 6456; and towards the south by a line in continuation of the last-mentioned boundary.
