An Act to amend the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1926.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Guardianship of Infants Amendment Act, 1927, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1926.
2 Magistrate’s Court may consent to marriage of infant.
The limitation of the jurisdiction of Magistrates’ Courts imposed by paragraph (a) of the proviso to subsection one of section seven of the Guardianship of Infants Act, 1926, shall not apply in respect of any application made under section eight of that Act for consent to the marriage of an infant, and any such consent may accordingly be given by a Magistrate’s Court.
3 Provision for access of grandparents to infant if one or both parents dead.
In the event of the death before or after the passing of this Act of the parents or of one of the parents of an infant the Court may order that the maternal or paternal grandparents of such infant, or any one of them, shall have access to such infant at such times and places as the Court may deem proper.
