Contents
An Act to amend the Egmont National Park Act.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Egmont National Park Amendment Act, 1933, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Egmont National Park Act, 1924 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Increasing representation on Board of West Egmont Local Committee.
(1)
Section five of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from paragraph (e) of subsection three the words “One person”
, and substituting the words “Two persons”
.
(2)
The first additional member of the Board to be appointed by the West Egmont Local Committee by virtue of the amendment made by the last preceding subsection may be appointed by resolution of the local committee at a meeting thereof to be held at any time after the passing of this Act, and shall take office on the first day of the month next following the date of his appointment.
3 Extending to two years the term of office of future members of Board appointed by local committees.
(1)
The appointment of members of the Board by the local committees shall hereafter be made in every alternate year, commencing in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-four.
(2)
The principal Act is hereby consequentially amended as follows:—
(a)
By omitting from paragraph (a) of section six the words “each year”
, and substituting the words “every alternate year”

(b)
By omitting from paragraph (6) of the said section six the words “for one year, or”
:
(c)
By omitting from paragraph (d) of subsection two of section twenty-four all words after the words “annual meeting”
.
4 Extending term of office of future members of local committees.
(1)
The appointment of members of the local committees shall hereafter be made in every alternate year, commencing in the year nineteen hundred and thirty-four.
(2)
Section twenty-four of the principal Act is hereby consequentially amended as follows:—
(a)
By omitting from paragraph (a) of subsection two the words “each year”
, and substituting the words “every alternate year”
; and
(b)
By omitting from paragraph (b) of the said sub section two the words “for one year, or”
.
5 Board may accept surrenders of leases.
The Board may, with the consent of the Minister and on such terms as he may approve, accept a surrender of any lease granted by the Board.
6 Funds of local committees.
(1)
The Board may from time to time grant to any local committee out of its general funds such sums as the Board thinks fit.
(2)
The funds of each local committee shall consist of all moneys granted to it by the Board as aforesaid, and all other moneys received by the local committee, not being moneys received on behalf of the Board.
7 Travelling expenses of members of loca committees.
There may be paid to the members of any local committee, out of the funds of the local committee, all moneys actually and reasonably expended by them in attending meetings of the local committee or of any committee thereof, or in transacting any business of the local committee pursuant to a resolution of the local committee.

8 Audit of accounts of Board and local committees.
(1)
The Audit Office shall be the auditor of the Board and of the local committees, and shall have the same duties and powers in respect of the moneys and accounts of the Board and of each local committee and of every person dealing therewith as if the Board and each local committee were a local authority within the meaning of section one hundred and twenty-four of the Public Revenues Act, 1926.
Repeal.
(2)
This section is in substitution for section thirty of the principal Act, and that section is hereby accordingly repealed.
9 Annual statement of accounts.
(1)
Within twenty-eight days after the close of each financial year ending on the thirty-first day of March, the Board shall cause to be prepared and submitted to the Audit Office for audit an aggregate balance-sheet and statement of accounts (including a statement of receipts and payments) showing the financial transactions of the Board and of the local committees for the year, together with a separate balance-sheet and statement of accounts (including a statement of receipts and payments) in respect of the Board and of each local committee, and shall submit an annual report to the Minister accompanied by the said balance-sheets and statements of accounts.
Repeal.
(2)
This section is in substitution for section thirty-one of the principal Act, and that section is hereby accordingly repealed.
10 Moneys to be banked.
All moneys of the Board or of any local committee shall within seven days after they have come into the hands of the proper officer of the Board or local committee be paid to the credit of the bank account of the Board or local committee at such bank as the Board or local committee, as the case may be, from time to time appoints.
11 Members of Board and local committees may enter into certain contracts with Board or committees.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act or in any rule of law, it shall be lawful for any person being a member of the Board, or a member of a local committee, to contract with the Board or such local committee, as the case may be, for the supply of anything to or the doing of any work for the Board or committee where the payment to be made by or on behalf of the Board or committee in respect of any such contract or contracts in which such member is interested does not exceed five pounds in the case of any contract, or ten pounds altogether in any financial year:
Provided that in any special case the Audit Office, where application is made to it in that behalf before the contract is made, may authorize the payment and receipt, in respect of any such contract or contracts in which such member is interested, of such amount as it thinks fit, not exceeding in the aggregate twenty pounds in any financial year.
12 Unauthorized expenditure of Board and local committees.
The Board and the local committees may in every financial year expend for purposes not authorized by any Act or law for the time being in force any sum or sums not exceeding in the aggregate, in the case of the West Egmont Local Committee, five pounds, and, in the case of the Board and the other local committees, fifteen pounds each.
13 Motor-vehicles Act to apply within the park.
For the purposes of the Motor-vehicles Act, 1924, and of any regulations thereunder, all roads and tracks within the park shall be deemed to be roads or streets within the meaning of that Act.
