An Act to amend the Geraldine County River District Act, 1921–22.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Geraldine County River District Amendment Act, 1938. and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Geraldine County River District Act, 1921–22 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 River district extended.
The area comprised in the district constituted by section three of the principal Act shall, on and after the passing of this Act, be deemed to include the areas for the time being comprised in the Borough of Temuka and the Borough of Geraldine respectively.
3 Representation on Geraldine County River Board.
(1)
The River Board of the district shall consist of the members for the time being of the Geraldine County Council and also two members, of whom one shall be appointed by the borough councils of Temuka and Geraldine respectively out of their respective Councils, and also such members for the time being of the Levels County Council as may be appointed to represent any subdivision comprising lands within the County of Levels.

This section is in substitution for section four of the principal Act, and that section and subsection two of section one hundred of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1923, are hereby accordingly repealed.
4 Validation of expenditure on river-protective works.
Any expenditure heretofore incurred by the Geraldine County River Board in carrying out river-protective works in or for the benefit of lands within the Borough of Temuka or the Borough of Geraldine is hereby validated and declared to have been lawfully incurred.
