An Act to Amend the Public Trust Office Act, 1908.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1948, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Public Trust Office Board abolished.

(1)
The Public Trust Office Board constituted by section thirteen of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1917, is hereby abolished.
(2)
All the powers, functions, and duties imposed by that Act or any other Act, or by any regulation, order, will, deed, instrument, or otherwise howsoever upon that Board are hereby transferred to and shall hereafter be exercised by the Public Trustee.
(3)
Section ten of the principal Act, and sections thirteen and fourteen of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1917, are hereby repealed.
(4)
The enactments mentioned in the Schedule to this Act are hereby amended in the manner indicated in that Schedule.
3 Public Trustee not to accept joint appointment.
Section twelve of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:—
“(3)
Under no circumstances shall the Public Trustee accept appointment jointly with any other person.”
4 Repeal of sections rendered obsolete by the Public Service Act, 1912, and the Public Service Amendment Act, 1946.
Sections five, seven, and eight of the principal Act, and sections four and eight, and paragraphs (b), (d), and (e) of section twelve of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1917, are hereby repealed.
