An Act to amend the Veterinary Services Act 1946.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title. 1946, No. 26
This Act may be cited as the Veterinary Services Amendment Act 1954, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Veterinary Services Act 1946 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Powers of the Council.
(1)
Section twelve of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after paragraph (c) of subsection two, the following paragraph:
“(cc)
Promote the establishment of any fund or scheme approved by the Governor-General in Council for the purpose of providing allowances for veterinary surgeons employed by veterinary clubs in cases of sickness or disability; and, on such terms and conditions as the Council thinks fit, subsidize out of its funds any such fund or scheme as aforesaid:”.
(2)
Section twelve of the principal Act is hereby further amended by adding to subsection two the following paragraphs:
“(k)
Purchase, take on lease or hire, or otherwise acquire such land, buildings, plant, machinery, and equipment as in the opinion of the Council are necessary for the performance of its functions:
“(l)
Sell, transfer, lease, hire, or otherwise dispose of any of its real or personal property.”
3 Unauthorized expenditure.
Section twenty-seven of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the word “fifty”
, and substituting the words “one hundred”
.
4 Accounts of Council.
Section thirty of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from subsection one the words “of the receipts and payments and”
