An Act to amend the Patriotic and Canteen Funds Act 1947
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Patriotic and Canteen Funds Amendment Act 1960, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Patriotic and Canteen Funds Act 1947 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
(2)
This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the thirtieth day of September, nineteen hundred and sixty.
2 Term of office of members of New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board
(1)
Section 4 of the principal Act is hereby amended—
(a)
By omitting from subsection (3) the words “first day of October in the year of his appointment”
, and substituting the words “first day of January following the date of his appointment”
:
(b)
By omitting from subsection (4) the words “thirtieth day of September”
, and substituting the words “thirty-first day of December”
:
(c)
By adding to the proviso to subsection (4) the words “and the term of office of any such member appointed after that date shall be deemed to commence on the first day of January in the year in which he is appointed”
.
(2)
Each member of the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board who is in office at the date of the commencement of this section shall, unless he sooner vacates his office under the provisions of section 33 of the principal Act, continue to hold office until the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and sixty.
