An Act to amend the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1947
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Magistrates’ Courts Amendment Act 1964, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1947 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Salaries of Magistrates
(1)
Section 6 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (1) (as substituted by section 2(1) of the Magistrates’ Courts Amendment Act 1960), and substituting the following subsection:
“(1)
Every Magistrate shall be paid a salary at the rate of three thousand five hundred pounds a year.”
(2)
Section 2 of the Magistrates’ Courts Amendment Act 1960 is hereby repealed.
(3)
This section shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and sixty-four.
3 Acting Magistrates
Section 10 of the principal Act is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (2) the words “two years”
, and substituting the words “four years”
.
