An Act to amend the Tokoroa Town Empowering Act 1966
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Tokoroa Town Empowering Amendment Act 1970, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Tokoroa Town Empowering Act 1966 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Remuneration of members of Committee
The principal Act is hereby amended by adding, after section 12, the following section:
“13
The Council may pay to each member of the Committee remuneration in respect of each meeting of the Committee or of any subcommittee thereof attended by him at such rate as may from time to time be paid by any County Council to a member of a County Borough Council pursuant to section 81 of the Counties Amendment Act 1968:
“Provided that the total amount that may be paid under this section to any member in any financial year shall not exceed the amount for the time being specified in the first proviso to the said section 81:
“Provided also that no remuneration may be paid under this section to any person holding office as the Mayor or as the Chairman of the Matamata County Council if an allowance is for the time being payable to that person pursuant to section 8 of this Act or to section 69 of the Counties Act 1956.”
