An Act to amend the Sale of Liquor Act 1962
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act 1972, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Sale of Liquor Act 1962 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Acting Chairman of Licensing Committee
(1)
Section 34 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:
“(1a)
During any vacancy in the office of Chairman, any Magistrate may act as Chairman pending the appointment of a Chairman, and while so acting shall have all the powers and may perform the functions of the Chairman.”
(2)
Where before the commencement of this section a Magistrate has acted as Chairman of a Licensing Committee during a vacancy in the office of Chairman, every act done by the Magistrate as Chairman, whether together with any member of the Committee or not, and every act done by the Committee while he so acted, shall be deemed to have been validly done as if he had been duly appointed as Chairman.
3 Transfer of wine reseller’s licence
Section 12 of the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act (No. 2) 1971 is hereby amended, as from the commencement of that section, by inserting in subsection (3), after the words “application for”
the words “the transfer of”
.
