An Act to amend the New Zealand Walkways Act 1975
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the New Zealand Walkways Amendment Act 1985, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the New Zealand Walkways Act 1975 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Commission may co-opt persons to assist it
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 4, the following section:
“4a
“(1)
The Commission, with the prior written consent of the Minister given subject to such conditions (including term of office) as he thinks fit to impose, may from time to time co-opt not more than 2 persons to assist it in the exercise and performance of its powers and functions.
“(2)
A person co-opted under subsection (1) of this section shall—
“(a)
Be entitled to be present and be heard, but not vote, at every meeting of the Commission:
“(b)
For the purposes of sections 6 and 34 of this Act, but for no other purpose, be deemed to be a member of the Commission.”
