An Act to amend the Machinery Act 1950
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Machinery Amendment Act 1989, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Machinery Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Codes of practice
(1)
Subsection (1) of section 26a of the principal Act (as inserted by section 7 of the Machinery Amendment Act 1986) is hereby amended by repealing the definitions of the terms “Chief Inspector of Factories’”
and “Chief Construction Safety Engineer”
.
(2)
Subsection (2) of the said section 26a is hereby amended by omitting the words “Chief Inspector of Factories of the Chief Construction Safety Engineer”
, and substituting the word “Secretary”
.
(3)
Section 26b(2)(a) of the principal Act (as inserted as aforesaid) is hereby consequentially amended by omitting the words “Chief Inspector of Factories or the Chief Construction Safety Engineer, as the case may be,”
, and substituting the word “Secretary”
.
(4)
Section 26c of the principal Act (as substituted as aforesaid) is hereby consequentially amended by inserting, after the word “issued”
, the words “after the commencement of the Machinery Amendment Act 1989 by the Secretary or before that commencement”
.
