Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations (No 3) 2002
Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
1 Title
(1)
These regulations are the Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations (No 3) 2002.
(2)
In these regulations, the Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 19861 are called “the principal regulations”
.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 October 2002.
3 Restriction on method of fishing for paddle crabs, octopus, and hagfish

Regulation 14E(1) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words “paddle crab, octopus, or hagfish”
, and substituting the words “octopus or hagfish”
.
(2)
Regulation 14E(3) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the words “paddle crab, octopus, or hagfish”
, and substituting the words “octopus or hagfish”
.
4 Regulation 14F revoked
The principal regulations are amended by revoking regulation 14F.
5 Consequential amendment
Regulation 16(2) of the principal regulations is amended by omitting the expression “14F,”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2002, amend the Fisheries (Central Area Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986. The amendments revoke the regulations that set commercial catch limits for pilchard, garfish, anchovy, and sprats stocks that have entered the quota management system. The amendments also remove the fishing method restrictions for paddle crab.
