PURSUANT to section 89 of the Fisheries Act 1983 and sections 296 and 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
1 Title and commencement

(1) These regulations may be cited as the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Commercial Fishing) Amendment Regulations 1998, and are part of the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Commercial Fishing) Regulations 19861 (the principal regulations).
(2) These regulations come into force on 1 April 1998.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 April 1998, amend the Fisheries (Southland and Sub-Antarctic Areas Commercial Fishing) Regulations 1986 by revoking regulation 9 (which prohibits oyster dredging during the hours of darkness) and regulation 13 (which relates to labelling of oyster containers) as being no longer appropriate with the oyster fishery transferring to the quota management system.
