Order

1 Title and commencement

(1)

This order may be cited as the Road User Charges (Rates) Order 1996.

(2)

This order shall come into force on 8 July 1996.

Road User Charges (Rates) Order 1996: confirmed, on 2 September 1996, by section 6 of the Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Act 1996 (1996 No 105).

2 Rates of road user charges reduced

(1)

The rates of road user charges specified in Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Schedule 3 of the Road User Charges Act 1977 (as substituted by section 3(1) of the Road User Charges Amendment (No 2) Act 1984 and increased by the Road User Charges (Rates) Order 1989) are hereby reduced to the corresponding rates specified in the Parts 1, 2, and 3 set out in the Schedule of this order.

The rates set out in the Schedule include goods and services tax payable at the rate of 12.5% under the Goods and Services Tax Act 1985.

3 Revocation

The Road User Charges (Rates) Order 1989 (SR 1989/134) is hereby consequentially revoked.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Road User Charges (Rates) Order 1996 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
