PURSUANT to section 150 of the Immigration Act 1987, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title

  • (1) These regulations are the Immigration Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2000.

    (2) In these regulations, the Immigration Regulations 19991 are called “the principal regulations”.

2 Commencement

  • These regulations come into force on 1 December 2000.

3 Schedule 1 amended

  • Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the principal regulations is amended by inserting in clause B1(b)(ii), after the item “Malta”, the item “Mexico”.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 December 2000, amend the Immigration Regulations 1999. Citizens of Mexico seeking a visitor's permit current for no more than 3 months are added to the list of persons exempt from the requirement to obtain a temporary visa.

Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
