Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 27 June 2024, amend the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008 (the principal regulations). The principal regulations set out various requirements for a person responsible, which is a key supervisory role in licensed early childhood services. One of these requirements, which takes effect from 26 August 2024, is for a person responsible to have a full practising certificate (rather than another type of practising certificate). The amendments remove this requirement for the following licensed centres and services:
early childhood education and care centres:
hospital-based education and care services:
home-based education and care services.
