Electoral Amendment Regulations 2008

Pursuant to section 267 of the Electoral Act 1993, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Electoral Amendment Regulations 2008.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on the day after the date of their notification in the Gazette.
3 Principal regulations amended
These regulations amend the Electoral Regulations 1996.
4 Declaration by issuing officers
Regulation 57(c) is amended by omitting
“registered”
.
5 Schedule 1 amended

(1) Form 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting
“you were not, on 2 April 2001,”
and substituting“you were not, on [insert date on which last Māori Electoral Option began],”
.(2) Form 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting
“the next Māori Electoral Option in 2006”
and substituting“the next Māori Electoral Option in [insert year]”
.(3) Form 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting
“i te 2 o Paenga-whāwhā 2001,”
and substituting“i te [insert date on which last Māori Electoral Option began]”
.(4) Form 1 of Schedule 1 is amended by omitting
“ā te tau 2006”
and substituting“ā te tau [insert year]”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on the day after their notification in the Gazette, amend the Electoral Regulations 1996.
The regulations update a reference to medical practitioners by omitting the obsolete term “registered”
.
The regulations also omit from the prescribed enrolment form outdated references to the 2001 and 2006 periods for the Māori Electoral Option. Specific references to particular periods will no longer be prescribed by regulations, but will be inserted by the Electoral Enrolment Centre when the forms are printed.
