Pursuant to section 96J of the Medicines Act 1981, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the Minister of Health, makes the following order.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2011.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 22 September 2011.
3 Expiry of Part
This order specifies the date “30 September 2016”
in substitution for the date specified in section 96J(1) of the Medicines Act 1981.
4 Revocations
The following orders are revoked:
(a)
Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2003 (SR 2003/132):
(b)
Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2008 (SR 2008/313).

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 22 September 2011, defers the expiry of Part 7A of the Medicines Act 1981 by 5 years (until the close of 30 September 2016). Part 7A imposes restrictions on xenotransplantation.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
