Preamble
At Wellington this 21st day of November 2006
Pursuant to section 96J of the Medicines Act 1981, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.
1 Title
This order is the Medicines (Deferral of Expiry of Part 7A) Order 2006.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force 28 days after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Expiry of Part
Section 96J(1) of the Medicines Act 1981 is amended by omitting
“31 December 2006”
and substituting“31 December 2008”
.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force 28 days after the date of its notification in the Gazette, defers the expiry of Part 7A of the Medicines Act 1981 to 31 December 2008. Part 7A imposes restrictions on xenotransplantation.
Issued under the authority of the Acts and Regulations Publication Act 1989.
