Pursuant to section 20 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries, after having regard to the matters specified in section 21 of the Act, gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Amendment Notice 2008.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 31 March 2008.
3 Application
This notice applies on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2008.
4 Principal notice amended
This notice amends the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986.
5 Schedule 1 amended
Schedule 1 is amended by omitting item C relating to southern blue whiting and substituting the item set out in the Schedule of this notice.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 31 March 2008, amends the Fisheries (Quota Management Areas, Total Allowable Catches, and Catch Histories) Notice 1986.
The amendment increases the total allowable commercial catch for southern blue whiting in quota management area SBW6B (Bounty Platform) from 3 500 to 9 800 greenweight tonnes.
The increase applies on and from the fishing year commencing on 1 April 2008.
