Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations amend the Climate Change (Unique Emissions Factors) Regulations 2009. Regulations 4 and 11 come into force on 12 December 2013, while the rest of the regulations come into force on 1 January 2014. The effect of the amendments is to update emissions factors based on new global warming potentials of—
25 for methane (CH4):
298 for nitrous oxide (N2O):
7 490 for tetrafluoromethane (CF4):
12 200 for hexafluoroethane (C2F6).
These regulations also revoke the definition of obligation jet fuel.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.
Date of notification in Gazette: 12 September 2013.
These regulations are administered by the Ministry for the Environment.
