These regulations are administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
Pursuant to section 297 of the Fisheries Act 1996, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Fisheries (Auckland and Kermadec Areas Amateur Fishing) Amendment Regulations 2009.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 June 2009.
3 Principal regulations amended
These regulations amend the Fisheries (Auckland and Kermadec Areas Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986.
4 Restrictions on fishing in Bay of Islands
Regulation 6B(5) is amended by omitting
“Motuarahia (Robertson)”
and substituting“Motuarohia (Roberton)”
.
5 Set netting prohibited in defined areas
Regulation 6C(1)(l)(iii) is amended by inserting
“then by the mean high-water mark to the northwesternmost point of the south head of Kaipara Harbour (at 36°25.67′S and 174°13.94′E); then by a straight line to Papakanui Spit east (at 36°25.71′S and 174°13.21′E); then by a straight line to Papakanui Spit west (at 36°25.75′S and 174°12.70′E);”
after“then by a straight line to Kaipara Harbour–South Head light (at 36°25.80′S and 174°14.20′E);”

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 June 2009, amend the Fisheries (Auckland and Kermadec Areas Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986 to—
correct spelling mistakes in regulation 6B(5) (which relates to restrictions on fishing in the Bay of Islands); and
clarify the area to which the prohibition on set netting between Maunganui Bluff and Tirua Point applies (regulation 6C(1)(l)(iii)).
