Pursuant to sections 400 to 402 of the Immigration Act 2009, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Immigration (Visa, Entry Permission, and Related Matters) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2012.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 2 July 2012.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Immigration (Visa, Entry Permission, and Related Matters) Regulations 2010 (the principal regulations).
4 Regulation 4 amended (Interpretation)
In regulation 4(1), replace the definition of dependent child with:
“dependent child—
“(a) means a child who is totally or substantially reliant on the applicant or the applicant's spouse or partner for financial support, regardless of whether the child lives with the applicant or his or her spouse or partner, or both; and
-
“(b) includes, for the purposes of regulations 20(2)(a) and (4) and 21(6)(b)(i), a child who—
“(i) is financially independent; and
“(ii) is at least 18 years old but less than 21 years old; and
“(iii) is single; and
“(iv) has no children”.
5 Schedule 4 replaced
Replace Schedule 4 with the Schedule 4 set out in the Schedule of these regulations.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 2 July 2012, amend the Immigration (Visa, Entry Permission, and Related Matters) Regulations 2010 (the principal regulations). The amendments—
refine the definition of dependent child to include, in the case of an application for a residence class visa or a variation of travel conditions in respect of a resident visa, a child who is financially independent, is at least 18 years old but less than 21 years old, is single, and has no children; and
replace Schedule 4.
New Schedule 4 sets out the fees payable for matters to which the principal regulations apply.
