Pursuant to section 140(1)(ba) of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government makes the following regulations acting—
(a) on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b) on the recommendation of the Minister for the Environment given after consideration of the matters in section 140(2A) of the Act and following consultation under section 141 of the Act.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Amendment Regulations 2011.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 5 September 2011.
3 Principal regulations amended
These regulations amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Regulations 2009.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 5 September 2011, amend the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (Organisms Prescribed as Not New Organisms) Regulations 2009.
The regulations add additional organisms to the schedule of organisms that are “not new” organisms for the purpose of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996. The new classification will allow research to be carried out into ways to control the organisms.
