This notice is administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
Pursuant to section 186B of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Spatial Allocations Manager of the Ministry for Primary Industries (acting pursuant to a delegation from the Director-General of the Ministry for Primary Industries under the State Sector Act 1988), after complying with the requirements of that section, gives the following notice.

1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Huriawa Peninsula Temporary Closure) Notice 2012.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 26 October 2012.
3 Expiry
This notice expires on the close of 25 October 2014.
4 Area closed for taking of paua

(1) A person must not take any paua from the Huriawa Peninsula area.
(2) In this clause, Huriawa Peninsula area means that area of South Island fisheries waters that lies within an area enclosed by a line—
(a) commencing at a point on the main high-water mark (at 45°38.44′S and 170°39.81′E); then
(b) proceeding north-west to a point 50 m offshore (at 45°38.41′S and 170°39.80′E); then
(c) proceeding generally east then west around the Huriawa Peninsula along a line every point of which is 50 m from the mean high-water mark to a point off-shore that is 50 m south of the mean high-water mark (at 45°38.57′S and 170°39.78′E); then
(d) proceeding north-west to a point (at 45°38.54′S and 170°39.77′E); then
(e) proceeding generally east then west along the mean high-water mark around the Huriawa Peninsula to the point of commencement.

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice, which comes into force on 26 October 2012, prohibits the taking of paua from the Huriawa Peninsula closure area for a period of 2 years.
