Pursuant to regulation 9 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the Minister for Primary Industries, being satisfied of the matters set out in regulation 9(1), gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Fisheries (Notification of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for Area/Rohe Moana of Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga) Notice 2015.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Revocation of this notice
This notice is revoked 5 years after the day on which it comes into force.
4 Customary food gathering area/rohe moana
This notice applies to the customary food gathering area/rohe moana defined by clause 2(c) of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 16) 2009 (Gazette 2009, p 4042).
5 New appointment
(1)
The Minister for Primary Industries has appointed Mathias Pitama as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana.
(2)
The appointment—
(a)
takes effect on the commencement of this notice; and
(b)
expires 5 years after the commencement of this notice.

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice is made under the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 (the regulations). It comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette and revokes itself 5 years after its commencement.
This notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by the Te Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga. The area/rohe moana is located in an area of South Island fisheries waters between Christchurch and the Hurunui River.
Notice is given of the appointment of a new Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the customary food gathering area/rohe moana. The Minister appointed the Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki under regulation 9(1) of the regulations.
The Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for a customary food gathering area/rohe moana may authorise any individual to take fish, aquatic life, or seaweed for customary food-gathering purposes from within the area/rohe moana.
