Note 4 at the end of this version provides a list of the amendments included in it.
This order is administered by the New Zealand Customs Service.
This order is made under section 282I(1) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996—
(a)

(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister of Customs made under section 282I(2) of that Act.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Customs and Excise (Expiry Date for Interim Arrangements for Information Sharing for Joint Border Management) Order 2016.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 29 July 2016.
3 Later date appointed for expiry of interim arrangements for information sharing
This clause appoints 1 September 2017 as a date later than 1 July 2015 for the purposes of section 282I(1) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996.
4 Revocation
The Customs and Excise (Expiry Date for Interim Arrangements for Information Sharing for Joint Border Management) Order 2015 (LI 2015/112) is revoked.
Michael Webster,
Clerk of the Executive Council.
Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 29 July 2016, appoints 1 September 2017 as a date later than 1 July 2015 on which the interim arrangements for information sharing for Joint Border Management expire. This order also revokes and supersedes a similar order made in 2015, which appointed 1 August 2016 as a date later than 1 July 2015 on which those interim arrangements expire. Those interim arrangements are the arrangements under all or any of the following:
(a)
sections 282E to 282H (and any agreements under section 282H) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996 (the Act); and
(b)
sections 41B to 41E (and any agreements under section 41E) of the Biosecurity Act 1993.
This order is made on the recommendation of the Minister of Customs who, as section 282I(2) of the Act requires, is satisfied, after consulting the Minister for Primary Industries (who is the Minister for Biosecurity), that a date later than 1 July 2015 is necessary because of a delay in the full operationalisation of the Joint Border Management System or JBMS.
Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2019.
Date of notification in Gazette: 23 June 2016.
