These regulations are made under section 167 of the Land Transport Act 1998 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Amendment Regulations 2016.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 1 October 2016.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations).
4 Schedule 1 amended
In Schedule 1, under the heading “Dangerous Goods 2005 (45001)”
, after the item relating to clause 10.4(b)(iv), insert:

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2016, amend the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations). The amendment reflects a change made by the Land Transport Rule: Dangerous Goods Amendment 2016 to the rules that apply to drivers and operators of vehicles transporting dangerous goods. A new rule is added that requires drivers and operators to comply with traffic signs indicating prohibitions or restrictions on the transport of dangerous goods. These regulations insert a new item into Schedule 1 of the principal regulations to make it an offence to fail to comply with that requirement.
