This order is made under section 74A(e) of the Arms Act 1983—
(a)
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
(b)
on the recommendation of the Minister of Police.
Order
1 Title
This order is the Arms (Prohibited Ammunition) Amendment Order 2019.
2 Commencement
This order comes into force on 18 October 2019.
Order: confirmed, on 12 December 2020, by section 7(a) of the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Act 2020 (2020 No 66).
3 Principal order
This order amends the Arms (Prohibited Ammunition) Order 2019 (the principal order).
4 Schedule amended
In the Schedule, replace the item relating to multi-projectile ammunition (excluding shotgun ammunition) with:
Multi-projectile ammunition (excluding shotgun cartridges and rimfire cartridges loaded with shot) |
Ammunition that has the ability to fire multiple projectiles in a single shot (for example, duplex ammunition) |

Explanatory note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This order, which comes into force on 18 October 2019, amends the Arms (Prohibited Ammunition) Order 2019 to exclude from the list of prohibited ammunition in that order rimfire cartridges loaded with shot.
This order is a confirmable instrument under section 47B of the Legislation Act 2012. It is revoked at the close of 31 December 2020, unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament. That stated time is the applicable deadline under section 47C(1)(b) of the Legislation Act 2012.
