Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2019
Patsy Reddy, Governor-General
Order in Council
At Wellington this 9th day of December 2019
Present:
Her Excellency the Governor-General in Council
These regulations are made under section 167 of the Land Transport Act 1998 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
Regulations
1 Title
These regulations are the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Amendment Regulations (No 2) 2019.
2 Commencement
These regulations come into force on 17 January 2020.
3 Principal regulations
These regulations amend the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations).
4 Schedule 1 amended
In Schedule 1, item relating to Light-vehicle Brakes 2002 (32014), insert in its appropriate numerical order the item set out in the Schedule of these regulations.
Michael Webster,
Clerk of the Executive Council.
Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 17 January 2020, amend Schedule 1 of the Land Transport (Offences and Penalties) Regulations 1999. Those regulations create offences for breaching specified land transport provisions and specify the penalties that apply.
The amendment made by regulation 4 relates to Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle Brakes Amendment (No 2) 2019, which inserts a new provision into Land Transport Rule: Light-vehicle Brakes 2002. That new provision makes it an offence for a person to knowingly make a false declaration when applying for identification of a vehicle as an immigrant’s vehicle or for a special interest motorcycle permit. This amendment prescribes the maximum fines for that offence.
