This determination (to which is appended an explanatory memorandum) is made by the Remuneration Authority under the Remuneration Authority Act 1977 and clause 6 of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002, after having regard to the matters specified in clause 7 of that schedule.
Determination
1 Title
This determination is the Local Government Members (2023/24) Amendment Determination 2024.
2 Commencement
(1)
Clause 4(1) is deemed to have come into force on 26 October 2023.
(2)
Clause 4(2) is deemed to have come into force on 15 February 2024.
(3)
Clause 4(3) is deemed to have come into force on 29 February 2024.
3 Principal determination
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2023/24) Determination 2023.
4 Schedule amended
(1)
In the Schedule, Part 1, item relating to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council,—
(a)
replace “67,860”
with “66,717”
in each place:
(b)
after the item relating to Clifton to Tangoio Coastal Hazards Strategy Joint Committee Chairperson, insert:

Explanatory memorandum
This memorandum is not part of the determination but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2023/24) Determination 2023 (the principal determination).
The amendments relating to Hawke’s Bay Regional Council are deemed to have come into force on 26 October 2023, the amendments relating to Northland Regional Council are deemed to have come into force on 15 February 2024, and the amendments relating to Buller District Council are deemed to have come into force on 29 February 2024.
This determination amends Parts 1 and 2 of the Schedule of the principal determination to reflect changes that the above-mentioned councils have made to their governance structures and to adjust annual remuneration amounts to reflect those new structures.
This determination does not change the governance remuneration pool for any of the councils, the minimum allowable remuneration for a councillor of each council, or the remuneration of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Chairperson, Northland Regional Council Chairperson, or Buller District Council Mayor.
The amendments in this determination are made at the request of the councils concerned and approved by the Remuneration Authority.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Local Government Members (2023/24) Amendment Determination 2024 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
