Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Minister of Police gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2008.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
3 Approval of MK4 RUCS Redflex NZRED1 camera system
(1)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is approved as a kind of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Land Transport Act 1998.
(2)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this clause applies is the MK4 RUCS Redflex NZRED1 camera system—
(a)
together with both of the following:
(i)
a mounting pole and housing; and
(ii)
2 inductive loops per monitored lane; and
(b)
either with, or without, all or any of the following:
(i)
a synchronised flash unit:
(ii)
a video unit that records continuous video segments that are, in accordance with operating programming, retained or deleted:
(iii)
a portable data storage device.
(3)
Portable data storage device, in subclause (2)(b)(iii), means an article or device (for example, one commonly known as a memory stick or a pen drive), with or without a USB interface, for the recording or retention or storage of data or information (for example, data or information relating to the deployment site) so that it can, with or without any other article or device, be retrieved or uploaded or reproduced, and used.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2008 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
