Pursuant to section 2(1) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Minister of Police gives the following notice.
Notice
1 Title
This notice is the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2015.
2 Commencement
This notice comes into force on 30 March 2015.
3 Approval of REDFLEXred-radar NK7 red light/speed camera system
(1)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which subclause (2) applies is approved as a kind of vehicle surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Land Transport Act 1998.
(2)
The vehicle surveillance equipment to which this subclause applies is the REDFLEXred-radar NK7 red light/speed camera system—
(a)
together with all of the following:
(i)
a mounting pole and housing; and
(ii)
an additional mapping radar (a REDFLEX mapping radar (wide) or a REDFLEX mapping radar (narrow)); and
(iii)
an additional mapping radar mounting pole; and
(iv)
an additional mapping radar data cable; and
(b)
with or without all or any of the following:
(i)
a synchronised flash unit:
(ii)
a flash unit mounting pole:
(iii)
a computer network modem or data cable:
(iv)
a portable device for storing data:
(v)
a device for transmitting data:
(vi)
a power supply device for the camera system, flash unit, or both.
(3)
For the purposes of subclause (2)(b)(iv), portable device for storing data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that records, retains, or stores data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site) in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced.
(4)
For the purposes of subclause (2)(b)(v), device for transmitting data means a device, with or without a USB interface, that (wirelessly or by a physical connection, and at any time or times) transmits, or allows (automatic or preset, or on-site or remotely directed) transmission of, data (including data relating to the system’s deployment site)—
(a)
directly or indirectly to a computer system the purpose of which is, or includes, receiving data transmitted from vehicle surveillance equipment; and
(b)
in a way that allows the data to be used and to be retrieved, uploaded, or reproduced.
Clause 3(4)(a): replaced, on 1 November 2023, by clause 7 of the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2023 (SL 2023/270).

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Land Transport (Approved Vehicle Surveillance Equipment) Notice 2015 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
