This determination (to which is appended an explanatory memorandum) is made by the Remuneration Authority under the Remuneration Authority Act 1977 and clause 6 of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002, after having regard to the matters specified in clause 7 of that schedule.

1 Title
This determination is the Local Government Members (2024/25) Amendment Determination (No 2) 2024.
2 Commencement

This determination is treated as having come into force on 24 July 2024.

Explanatory memorandum
This memorandum is not part of the determination but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2024/25) Determination 2024 (the principal determination).
The amendments relating to Northland Regional Council are treated as having come into force on 24 July 2024. Those amendments reflect the change that Northland Regional Council made to its governance structure and the adjustments, as approved by the Remuneration Authority (the Authority), made to the annual remuneration amounts to reflect the new structure.
The amendments relating to Waikato Regional Council are treated as having come into force on 30 August 2024. The amendments reflect the change that Waikato Regional Council made to its governance structure and the adjustments, as approved by the Authority, made to the annual remuneration amounts to reflect the new structure.
The amendment relating to Auckland Council is treated as having come into force on 30 August 2024. The amendment reflects the changes that Auckland Council made to its governing body committee structure and the adjustments, as approved by the Authority, made to the annual remuneration amounts to reflect the new structure and associated roles.
The amendment relating to Masterton District Council reflects the change that the Council has made to its governance structure by disestablishing the Infrastructure and Services Committee for the remainder of the Council’s 2022–25 term and by establishing the new role of Water Services and Resilience Lead. Although the change was effective from 27 June 2024, the principal determination came into force on 1 July 2024, so the amendment is treated as having come into force on 1 July 2024.
The amendments relating to Tauranga City Council reflect the implementation of the Council’s new governance structure following the local elections to the Council on 20 July 2024. The principal determination provides for the remuneration of the Mayor and a Councillor (minimum allowable remuneration). The remuneration, approved by the Authority, applies from 24 July 2024, which is the day after the date on which the official result of the elections was declared. The amendments insert new items relating to a Councillor with no additional responsibilities, the Deputy Mayor and Chairperson Accountability, Performance, and Finance Committee, a Chairperson Standing Committee, and a Deputy Chairperson Standing Committee. The remuneration, approved by the Authority,—
for a Councillor with no additional responsibilities applies from 24 July 2024:
for the Deputy Mayor and the Chairperson Accountability, Performance, and Finance Committee applies from 3 August 2024, which is the day after the date on which the Deputy Mayor’s appointment was confirmed by Council resolution:
for a Chairperson Standing Committee and a Deputy Chairperson Standing Committee applies from 16 August 2024, which is the day after the date on which the positions were confirmed by Council resolution.
The amendments in clause 4(12) to (14) relating to those offices are treated as having come into force on those dates.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Local Government Members (2024/25) Amendment Determination (No 2) 2024 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
