This order is made under section 32 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Ombudsmen (Ministry of Disabled People) Order 2024.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 December 2024.

3 Principal Act

This order amends the Ombudsmen Act 1975.

4 Schedule 1 amended

In Schedule 1, Part 1, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Ministry of Disabled People

In Schedule 1, Part 1A, repeal the item relating to the Ministry for Disabled People.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 December 2024, amends the Ombudsmen Act 1975 (the principal Act) to reflect the establishment of the Ministry of Disabled People as a government department and the disestablishment of the Ministry for Disabled People as a departmental agency. The amendments—

insert the name of the Ministry of Disabled People into the list of government departments set out in Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the principal Act:
remove the name of the Ministry for Disabled People from the list of departmental agencies in Part 1A of that schedule.

The effect of the order is that the principal Act and the Official Information Act 1982 apply to the Ministry of Disabled People.
