This determination (to which is appended an explanatory memorandum) is made by the Remuneration Authority under the Remuneration Authority Act 1977 and clause 6 of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002, after having regard to the matters specified in clause 7 of that schedule.

1 Title
This determination is the Local Government Members (2024/2025) Amendment Determination 2025.
2 Commencement
(1)
Clause 4(1) is deemed to have come into force on 11 December 2024.
(2)
Clause 4(2) is deemed to have come into force on 21 November 2024.
(3)
Clause 4(3) is deemed to have come into force on 11 February 2025.
3 Principal determination
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2024/25) Determination 2024.

Explanatory memorandum
This memorandum is not part of the determination but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This determination amends the Local Government Members (2024/25) Determination 2024.
The amendments relating to Northland Regional Council are deemed to have come into force on 11 December 2024. Those amendments reflect the change that Northland Regional Council made to its governance structure following the removal of the Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee position and the subsequent adjustments, as approved by the Remuneration Authority (the Authority), made to the annual remuneration amounts covering the remaining councillor positions.
The amendments relating to Otago Regional Council are deemed to have come into force on 21 November 2024. Those amendments reflect the change that Otago Regional Council made to its governance structure as the result of the resignation of a councillor and the consequential adjustments, as approved by the Authority, made to the annual remuneration amounts of its councillor positions to reflect the new structure.
The amendments relating to Tauranga City Council are deemed to have come into force on 11 February 2025. Those amendments reflect the change that Tauranga City Council made to its committee structure. No adjustments were made to the councillors’ annual remuneration amounts. The Authority approved the Council’s proposal for the change.

1 General
This is a consolidation of the Local Government Members (2024/2025) Amendment Determination 2025 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.
2 Legal status
A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
