Chlöe Swarbrick, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 12
In clause 12(1), new section 171B(2A)(b), replace “at least 1 member is a student”
(page 4, line 34) with “at least 2 members are students”

In clause 12(1), new section 171B(2A)(b)(i), replace “who is”
(page 4, line 35) with “who are”
.
Clause 14
In clause 14(2), new section 222AD(4)(b), replace “at least 1 member is a student”
(page 6, line 16) with “at least 2 members are students”
.
In clause 14(2), new section 222AD(4)(b)(i), replace “who is”
(page 6, line 17) with “who are”
.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clauses 12 and 14 in the Education Amendment Bill to increase student representation on tertiary and polytechnic councils from “at least 1”
to “at least 2”
. This is to guarantee greater democratic representation, balanced decision making, and to reflect the strong will of a majority of submitters on this issue during the select committee process.
