Education and Training Amendment Bill
Proposed amendments
Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 42
In clause 42, new section 237A(1), after “principal of a State school”
(page 33, line 11), insert “, or the person responsible for teaching and learning in a charter school,”
.
In clause 42, new section 237A(4), after “principal of a State school”
(page 33, line 23), insert “, or the person responsible for teaching and learning in a charter school,”
.
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill. Under the amendments in clause 13, a sponsor of a charter school can appoint an attendance officer with all powers associated with it. It would be inconsistent then that a charter school does not need to ensure that an attendance record is kept for each student, especially as the collection of attendance data is a key feature of this Bill.
