Education Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Chris Hipkins, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 31: new section 158M
In clause 31, new section 158M(1), replace paragraph (c) (line 35 on page 33) with:
“(c) third priority must be given to any applicant who lives within 3.2 kilometres of the school:
“(d) fourth priority must be given to all other applicants.”
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Education Amendment Bill, which as currently drafted does not require a partnership school kura hourua to take account of an applicant’s proximity to the school in its consideration of applications.
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the bill to provide that, after giving priority to an applicant whose sibling is a current or former student of the school, a partnership school kura hourua must give priority to an applicant who lives within 3.2km of the school.
