Proposed amendments
Hon Ruth Dyson, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 14
In clause 14(3), new section 174(2)(b) replace “who is a provider”
(page 14, line 34) with “who is the closest provider”
.
In clause 14(3), after new section 174(2) , insert:

In subsection (2)(b), the closest provider is to be determined taking into account—
(a)
the physical distance between the providers; and
(b)
the date and time that the person has requested the service; and
(c)
the operating hours of the provider of the service requested.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 14 of the Abortion Legislation Bill, which amends the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, to specify that a person with a conscientious objection must provide to the person seeking access to the service the contact details of the closest provider of the service.
