Proposed amendments

Andrew Little, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 11

Delete clause 11 (page 10, line 19 to page 12, line 5).

Clause 13

Delete clause 13 (page 13, line 32 to page 14, line 18).

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper removes the ability to opt out of a Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (MECA). The development of MECAs is important to improving the wages and conditions of workers across an industry particularly in the education and health areas. The Bill as currently drafted introduces an opt-out provision which would seriously undermine the development of MECAs and this Supplementary Order Paper accordingly removes it.
